In Morocco the choreographic and musical heritage has been passed down orally from generation to generation by learning the rules governed by the master-disciple relationship. Two genres predominate schematically the rural music, mainly characterized by the rhythm, and music mainly city based on Andalusian heritage. The group dances are as numerous as the tribes. They align themselves with popular poetry déclamée or sung. They have many variations, the most famous are ahidouss and ahwach.
The rural music :
For most of berbère expression, styles vary by region. The Assistant is distinguished by small roving bands, the rway who interpret poems in moral and political, but also to more frivolous topics. They play the rebab (here monochord old) of Lotar (stringed instrument whose body is a casserole wrapped in skin) and metallic percussion. The show also consists of dances, including trépignements feet. In the Middle Atlas, the chikhates, singers and dancers mores released, accompanied by a small orchestra: violin, percussion, possibly lute. The Guedra of Guelmim region is a dance without moving, punctuated by a drum clay. The art of dancing lies in its movements of arms and hands. Music among rural Arabic language akin to Melhoun, but it is distinguished by a wide variety of rhythms and dances.
Tarifiyit or jahjouka practiced in the Rif. It was revealed to the Western world by the Rolling Stones after the compositions of Brian Gysin who is inspired. Tamazight to center in the Middle Atlas. The main dance of these regions is Ahidouss. Tachelhit south at the top and the Anti-Atlas. The main dance is Ahwach.
The music Erlangen - City :
Venue of the East, the Andalusian music has developed in Andalus, then from the XI century, was made in North Africa by the Arabs expelled from Spain. In Morocco, it is called al-'Ala, ie "the instrument". This musical tradition, aristocratic, stood up to our days in Fez and Tetuan, but also in Rabat and Oujda. Social connotations, it is reserved for concerts and festivals lovers of the high Moroccan society. The directory contains eleven Nuba, or suites, each of the five movements. These are mainly love poems collected in a book in the eighteenth century Al Hdik, a musician from Tetouan. The Nuba, led by the soloist, is sung in unison by the musicians and sometimes by a choir of women. Very inspired by Andalusian music, but more popular, the Melhoun is a genre in which the poems in Moroccan Arabic music predominate. Its support is simple. The singer plays the central role in the orchestra, made up of oud, tar, and derbouka nouiqsat (cymbalettes digital).
Ayta in the countryside nearby cities.
Daqqa Marrakech mainly based on rhythm. Malhoun which is a complex body of verse poems in Arabic dialect and has many links with the Andalusian music. Andaloussi or ala is a lyrical and instrumental repertoire of Andalusian origin, transmitted for centuries through oral tradition. Nouba which is a set of vocal and instrumental pieces orbiting around a main mode. Gharnata which is a style of Andalusian music. Gnaoua, African-inspired, was mainly developed in Marrakech and Essaouira, which devotes a major annual international festival.
Song Variety:
She underwent various influences: other Arab countries (especially E'gypte), Moroccan folklore, western varieties. Two styles coexist: the Chaabi (popular) and the ASRI (modern). The Châabi is represented by chikhates and groups like Nass el Ghiwane, Jil Jilala and El Mechaheb, born in the 1970s. Poor people and symbolic of a youth in turmoil, they created a genre which - while using the rhythms and traditional instruments - has renewed the Moroccan song. More recently, Bouchnak Brothers have emerged with a style which blends Algerian Rai music and country. The ASRI, with singers like and Abdelhadi Abdelwahab Doukkali Belkhayat, uses orchestration and rhythm closer to the Egyptian variety of local traditions.
